New Lifestyle

With being diagnosed with Scleroderma and Myositis within one Dr.’s appointment, I knew my lifestyle was about to change. Not only was finding out I have 2 auto immune diseases the worst, but months beforehand I found out I have Celiac’s Disease and got told while in the hospital that my diet had to change.

I have to say, walking out of the hospital after 4 days I felt different. Obviously, it is going to take time for my body to get back to being strong and everything, but thankfully I’m able to take life a little slow to help with the process.

Changing up your lifestyle doesn’t have to seem like a bad thing. In all honesty, all that I am really changing is my diet and my workouts. I told myself for the LONGEST time I couldn’t go through with diets and live a “healthy” lifestyle…. well, this is my life if I want things to get better. I will say eating more CLEAN foods does make me feel good. I used to eat so much processed foods and tons of sugar. Even though it may have “tasted” or “smelled” good, I knew it wasn’t actually good for my body. It’s never easy when you start a diet or when a doctor tells you to your face, “You need to change your diet if you want things to get better”. Even though it’s good for you, you know you’d rather want a slice of pizza or a burger and fries… Now, I’m not saying those are bad for you, just eat them in moderation.

I know that this new lifestyle will take getting used to for me. I didn’t know I was going to have a gluten intolerance or get diagnosed with 2 auto immune diseases, but they are things I’m learning to live with every day.

Will this new lifestyle be hard? I hope not. With the right medicines and food, I just hope and pray that it will get easier.

In this life, there is always going to be challenges. My family has always told me I am a strong woman and I’m very blessed I come from a long line of them. Don’t get me wrong, I am not always strong. I am not perfect, and I never will be. But, in my weakest moments, I seek Him. God is my strength. I wouldn’t have made it through the past few years without Him and these past few years were HARD. I didn’t know how sick I was, I thought what was going on was normal, but everyone told me it wasn’t. Thankfully the doctors at Virgina Mason Hospital took such good care of me.

Even though I have a medical condition, Jesus healed me from what I thought was my “normal” life.
